We the members of the Editorial Board wish to convey a very happy New Year 2021 to all our readers. Hope this year will be without any turmoil that we experienced last year and allow everybody to live happily. The New Year also brings a very happy news to all our members and contributors. The APIK Journal of Internal Medicine (AJIM) has been indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals. With a humble beginning more than 30 years ago as Karnataka Medical Journal, the spectacular progress of the journal as an international journal at present is really noteworthy. The journal's standard has increased by leaps and bounds once the publication was taken over by Wolters Kluwer in 2019. The journal tries to get indexed in Scopus, PubMed, and other indexing agencies in the years to come. This is an open access journal not charging any fee to the authors at present which may change in the days to come. It is a boon to all the researchers both teaching and nonteaching in Karnataka, that they have an indexed journal to publish their research work. The articles published in AJIM are recognized by the NMC in India and hence the teaching staff in the medical colleges who are bound to do research to get their promotions can send their articles to the journal without a second thought. The journal is published in both online and print versions, and the postgraduate students in the medical colleges can definitely make use of this opportunity instead of sending their articles to predator journals whose existence may be in doubt after a few years. We accept articles in the form of original articles, review articles, case reports, commentary, and viewpoint from any part of the world. Since this is an internal medicine journal, articles from most of the subspecialties which have a bearing on internal medicine are going to be accepted. Hence, subspecialists can send their research work to AJIM in addition to the journal of their subspecialty. We would like to thank all our contributors and the publishers for getting the journal indexed. The journal also accepts advertisements from pharma companies at a nominal cost.

COVID-19 infection was coming down, but a mutated version of the virus is sweeping European countries and probably will make an entry to India too by the time you read this, which is a bad news to all. We should not allow a second wave to occur because of our foolhardiness. Vaccine is on the verge of being used which probably may also be effective against the mutated COVID-19 infection, should not make us complacent. Hope everything ends well.

We have had umpteen number of articles on COVID-19 in all the journals, and this issue has an original article and a review article which is an extension of the review article that was already published in our previous issue, that gives you the latest knowledge on the subject. Of course, this may change in the course of a few months. People who had suffered COVID are coming back with lot of symptoms and signs after a few months, related to multiple systems which is termed as Long COVID or post COVID syndrome. This has been brought out well by Dr.Prabha Adhikari in her guest editorial. The best original article, review article, case report, and the reviewers for the year 2020 have been announced. Congratulations to all the winners. The journal has all the regular titles for your happy reading. 2020 has been a year in exile for all of us. Hope all our regular activities will be resumed in 2021. Send your comments and observations on the articles published.
